Optimising change management with Basis Technologies
Basis Technologies applied ActiveControl to bring synchronization to the customer’s development tracks through its merge functionality.
A large, multinational pharmaceutical company had made a significant investment in time and resource in SAP ChaRM, but a dual track landscape was seeing it experience wasted development, the additional cost of having to re-do work, and the heightened risk of errors. Now using ActiveControl in parallel to ChaRM to safely manage their dual-track landscape for six successive years, the company has been through three upgrades of ActiveControl during this time due to the value it continues to provide as part of their transformation journey.
A large, multinational pharmaceutical company had made a significant investment in time and resource in SAP ChaRM, running a dual track landscape consisting of ‘BAU into production’ as well as a separate project track. Among a number of critical issues, the business found it was unable to keep both tracks aligned. Specifically, project changes were being continually over-written, despite using ChaRM’s Retrofit capabilities to synchronise changes. The result was wasted development errors, the additional cost of having to re-do work and the heightened risk of errors.
The company engaged Basis Technologies and its ActiveControl product to help bring synchronization to its development tracks through its merge functionality. Having seen the benefits this brought, the company expanded its partnership with Basis Technologies to solve even greater challenges around errors entering the production system.
The company opted to use ActiveControl’s automated ShiftLeft analysers in its production support landscape, in order to spot problems within their BAU track before moving changes from pre-production into the production support landscape.
This enabled the team to spot problems proactively before moving to later systems in the landscape. Ultimately, this helped protect the company from downtime and other business-critical issues that arise from poor change management.
