From brownfield to greenfield
To get ahead of SAP’s 2027 deadline for S/4HANA migration, Kimberly-Clark had initiated a Greenfield Global Template implementation – but hit the brakes due to unforeseen blockers from user testing, readiness assessments and other sensitivities that would compromise a successful transformation.
By bringing in Basis Technologies and ActiveControl, this pause became an opportunity to help Kimberly-Clark shift to a more appropriate brownfield approach and succeed at speed.

Surfacing issues and streamlining processes
ActiveControl helped surface key issues affecting sequencing and transport dependencies, optimized rules and processes to eliminate rework, and introduced a single-layer automated approval process to streamline migration.
ActiveControl facilitated careful transport management, and fast code migration and remediation with minimal business disruption and downtime.
Outcome
Project time and downtime reduced
By optimizing workflows through simulations before deployment and automating processes to reduce manual work, the project timeline dropped from 18 months to 14 months, technical downtime fell from 18 hours to 5 hours, and package transports that normally took 8 hours were completed in just one to two hours. The weekend go-live minimized business disruption and ran smoothly.
