British American Tobacco plc (BAT) is a British multinational tobacco company headquartered in London, and the world’s leading tobacco group with brands sold in more than 180 markets.
BAT needed an automation tool to help with a large internal transformation which involved a company-wide SAP implementation.
With thousands of SAP transports relying on manual intervention, sequencing issues and missing transports were becoming issues for BAT.
Due to a vast number of SAP systems and development environments, BAT needed a solution that would reduce the reliance on the manual management of SAP transports, as well as running safe multi-track development for increased efficiency.
BAT chose to use ActiveControl, which was rapidly installed on multiple landscapes within their SAP ecosystem, with the view of increasing efficiency and reducing costs.
With ActiveControl’s multi-track component, BAT has the perfect tool to dynamically monitor objects within SAP transports across multiple landscapes, successfully managing object contention and freeing its dev team to work at pace, without the cost of re-keying.
Without ActiveControl, BAT would have been unable to quickly deploy SAP changes within their small cutover window, and would not have been able to launch their five-year global implementation, having an adverse impact on business and its competitive advantage.
